Our band plays covers of songs from the 50`s through to the 90`s and takes in anything from Elvis to Hendrix to The Clash so I need gear that can adapt to suit the sound of many songs .
My first guitar is a USA Fender Strat Deluxe with the S1 switching which is brilliant, my spare guitar is a Tradition MTQ quilted maple top double cut style guitar, I prefer the Fender as its lighter and more comfortable and plays so well, I like the sound quite `toppy` to cut through the band .
Amps, up till now I have used a Fender hot rod deluxe along with a custom 2x10" cab, (Session cab with two Celestion G10 vintage speakers), the sound and volume are fantastic but I always felt the Fender amp lacked quite enough gain to for the rockier songs we play so I have just bought a Laney LC30 II which has really impressed me with its all round tone, I dont believe you need any more than 30-40 Watts of valve power for most venues we play .
I use wireless on my guitar which allows so much freedom to wander round the venue whilst playing and keeping an ear on the sound balance .
I use a Boss ME20 pedal which is adequate for my needs .
Our PA is a Yamaha 2x400 Watt 8 channel amp/mixer with two Peavey 400 Watt 12" cabs, foldback is Wharfedale EVP PRO 350/500 Watts with 12" drivers, we also have a Carlsbro 120 Watt PA for smaller venues, I use a Shure 58 mic .
Our Bass player uses a Fender Precision with Ashton amp, our drummer has a good sized Sonor kit I believe .
Our new rhythm guitarist uses a Traynor valve amp with a Fender Strat guitar .
